The Mt. Veeder appellation has a depth and complexity of soil unique to the Napa Valley.
With mild December rains, the beginning of the growing season commenced on the warmer side, leading to an early budbreak. Going into late spring and early summer, the vines showed strong shoot growth and average crop yields. A warm August led to early picks from our Oakville Estate starting on August 31st, with all fruit being harvested shortly after. An unprecedented five-day heat wave in the triple digits over Labor Day weekend prompted our vineyard crew and production team to work tirelessly, allowing us to pick and process the entire property within two weeks, with the last picking taking place on September 15th. Thanks to the age of our vines and meticulous farming practices, we were able to preserve freshness and structure while maintaining concentration and finesse, resulting in an incredible wine despite the challenging vintage.
