The 2022 vintage harvest will be remembered as one of the more unique vintages in recent memory with a focus on resilience and adaptability.
With mild December rain, the beginning of the growing season commenced on the warmer side, leading to an early budbreak. Going into late spring and early summer, the vines showed strong shoot growth and average crop yields. A warm August led to early picks from our Oakville Estate starting on August 31st, with our first pick of Cabernet Franc on September 6th,. Due to an unprecedented heat wave of 5 days in triple digits over the Labor Day weekend, our vineyard crew and production team worked tirelessly to pick and process the entire property in 2 weeks, with our last pick coming in on September 15th. Due to the age of our vines and meticulous farming practices, we were able to preserve freshness and structure, while keeping concentration and finesse to provide an incredible wine in a more challenging vintage.

Winemaker Notes
The 2022 Crossroads Cabernet Franc aromatics swirl out of the glass to the nose, bursting with fruit-forward intensity and liveliness. Dried red currants, tart cranberry, and acid-driven black cherries mingle with warm cedar notes, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity. Underlying hints of dark cocoa, anise, and dried black tea add layers of complexity with each additional inspection. On the palate, bold power takes the lead with a lush and generous mouthfeel of bright cranberry, juicy black plums, and rich mission figs. A savory touch of black olive and licorice root adds intrigue while the smooth, well-integrated tannins provide structure and balance. The finish lingers gracefully with a light dusting of cocoa, leaving a refined and satisfying feeling. Best shared with family and friends after a long day of backpacking through the wilderness to help the process of warming up as dinner is prepared on the open fire.
